About the Author

I’m L.M. Carleton—an abuse survivor, mother, author, journal creator, and professional caregiver with more than twenty years of experience caring for the elderly and individuals with physical and mental challenges.

Through memoir and reflective writing, I share my journey of survival, faith, and healing. Through my handmade journals, I provide a space for others to explore their own stories, discover hope, and reflect on their path toward healing.

My passion is to illuminate the darkness with wisdom and truth, helping others overcome adversity, find healing, and discover hope through faith.

For many years, I buried the pain of childhood abuse and domestic violence and tried to move forward with my life. Like many survivors, I believed the past was behind me.

Then, after an unexpected encounter with my estranged, abusive husband on a dating website, painful memories resurfaced with overwhelming force. The emotional anguish became impossible to ignore.

In search of answers, I turned to reflective writing and began sharing my thoughts through a blog. What started as a way to process my pain became a path toward self-discovery, healing, and spiritual growth.

As I reflected on my experiences, I began to understand how childhood adversity had shaped my beliefs, relationships, behaviors, and sense of self. More importantly, I discovered that God’s grace could bring light into the darkness and restore what had been broken.

That experience changed my life.

Today, I share personal stories, reflections, poems, and life lessons to encourage others to break the silence, understand their experiences, overcome adversity, and embrace the hope and freedom found through faith.

My mission is simple:

To illuminate the darkness with wisdom and inspire healing, restoration, and hope.
